Meet the Queenstown Team Behind the Tours

Remarkable Scenic Tours is a Queenstown-based family business sharing the places we know and love. Our tours are designed to feel relaxed, personal, and genuinely local, with scenic stops, local stories, comfortable vehicles, and guides who bring the South Island to life.

Local Guides, Authentic Queenstown Experiences

At Remarkable Scenic Tours, we believe a great tour should feel more personal than a standard sightseeing trip. We focus on small-group and private tours with local guides, thoughtful stops, and time to enjoy the journey.

From Arrowtown and Wānaka to Milford Sound, Glenorchy, Aoraki / Mount Cook and beyond, our tours are shaped by real local knowledge and a genuine love for this part of New Zealand.

Remarkable Scenic Tours is part of KWH Journeys, our family of New Zealand and Australia travel brands.

Meet Wayne and Kathy

Travellers at Heart, Locals by Choice

Wayne and Kathy are travellers, hosts, and storytellers at heart. Originally from Australia, Kathy and her Kiwi husband Wayne spent years living across Europe and Australia before returning to New Zealand to raise their family.

In 2010, they sold everything and took their children on a two-year round-the-world adventure, experiencing everything from wildlife safaris and special-interest tours to motorhomes, hop-on-hop-off buses, and small-group day tours.

That journey shaped the way they wanted to guide guests in Queenstown. The tours they loved most were personal, flexible, friendly, and full of local connection, and that idea became the foundation of Remarkable Scenic Tours.

Today, Wayne, Kathy, and their team welcome guests from around the world to explore Queenstown, Arrowtown, Wānaka, Milford Sound, Glenorchy, and beyond.

Kathy Hansen

Kathy is the friendly organiser behind many of our private tours. Warm, helpful, and naturally good with people, she loves creating personalised experiences and helping guests feel looked after from the first enquiry.

Her own travels have given her a strong understanding of what makes a tour feel special: local recommendations, thoughtful details, and moments you would never find in a guidebook.

Wayne Hansen

Wayne is a born-and-bred South Islander with deep knowledge of Central Otago and a genuine love for the region. Relaxed, positive, and full of local stories, he is known for making guests feel at ease.

As a past President of the Queenstown Photography Club, Wayne is also happy to help guests find the best photo stops and capture the landscapes that make this part of New Zealand so memorable.
